Untreated wastewater is flowing into Glynns Creek near Scott County Park because of a valve failure.

The Park View Water and Sanitary District reported a valve failed in its main pump station, causing untreated wastewater to flow into nearby Glynns Creek.

Glynns Creek flows north, winding about 2 miles through Scott County Park before it flows into McDonald Creek, then the Wapsipinicon River.

Park View staff estimates 300,000 to 400,000 gallons of untreated wastewater per day is discharging. Officials say it may take several days before they can repair the valve.

The DNR recommends keeping children and pets away from Glynns and McDonald creeks until 24 hours after repairs are made.
