The Bettendorf Public Library, 2950 Learning Campus Drive, will host a free screening of “Green First,” a documentary film about conservationist Aldo Leopold and his environmental legacy, at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 18. “Green Fire” shares highlights from Leopold’s career, explaining how he shaped conservation and the modern environmental movement. The film also illustrates how his vision of a community that cares about both people and land continues to inform and inspire people across the country and around the world, highlighting modern projects that put Leopold’s land ethic into action. The project is part of Building Common Ground: Discussions of Community, Civility and Compassion made possible with a grant from the American Library Association and the Fetzer Institute.
