A break in a 12-inch water main has shut down Scott Street in Davenport, from 3rd to 4th streets.

Iowa American Water was notified of the break around 8 a.m. Monday.

Lisa Reisen, external affairs manager for Iowa American Water, expects the road to be open within a day, as soon as city officials approve its safety.

“They’re working hard to get things repaired as quickly as possible,” Reisen said.

Reisen said while the cause of the break is unclear; it may have been triggered by shifting ground or changes in the saturation levels of the soil.

Three customers are without water.
