Dr. Matt Nelson, veterinarian and practice owner at Maple Ridge Veterinary Clinic in Geneseo, Ill., has been elected treasurer of the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) by the association’s board of directors.   

Nelson graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002 with highest honors. He purchased Kuhns Animal Clinic now called Maple Ridge Veterinary Clinic in July 2008.  

In 2011, he received the Dr. Erwin Small First Decade Award given annually to a veterinarian who has been in practice for less than 10 years and represents high standards of professionalism and demonstrates leadership in ISVMA programs.

Nelson is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine Mentor Program and the Geneseo Kiwanis Club.
