Anne Ryerson, a product safety  and compliance engineer at the John Deere Global Crop Harvesting Product Development Center, has been named the 2013 Junior Engineer of the Year by the Quad-City Engineering and Science Council.

Ryerson of Geneseo, Ill., is a member of several national and international standards development committees within the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers. She also is active in local outreach programs to promote engineering education and a mentor of a FIRST Lego League team in the Geneseo schools. She is also a member of two College of Engineering advisory groups at her alma mater, the University of Iowa.

Currently an active volunteer with LiveUncommon and the Southwest Elementary School PTA’s Healthy Initiatives committee, she has also volunteered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Geneseo Humane Society, Junior Achievement and is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts.

Ryerson received her bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa and her master of science degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Illinois.
