The commander of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command has been nominated for a second general’s star.

Army Brig. Gen. John F. Wharton will become a major general when his nomination is approved by the U.S. Senate.

Wharton, who has commanded the sustainment command since September, was nominated for promotion along with seven other Army officers. The sustainment command is headquartered at the Rock Island Arsenal.

He previously served as chief of staff for the Army Materiel Command in Huntsville, Ala.
