Brett Morales of Davenport has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point for the 2013-2014 school year, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, has announced.

Morales, son of Sandra and Mark Nissen, will graduate in June from Davenport West High School, where he was Cadet of the Month in the Davenport Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.

He also participated in cross country, rifle and marksmanship, track and field and the National Honor Society.  In addition, he serves as group leader for children’s church at Beran Baptist Church. While a student in Baumholder, Germany, he participated in the International Student Leadership Institute.
