Dan Gleason of the Quad-Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau has successfully completed the course requirements to earn his Certified Travel Industry Specialist designation.

Participants completed five correspondence courses over the past year and attended and evaluated eight Industry Advancement Seminars presented at the American Bus Marketplace. Since the program’s inception in 1989, about 500 have earned the designation.

Gleason began working with the bureau as an intern in 2007 and was hired in August 2007 as office manager.

A year later he became sports sales and event coordinator. In 2009, he became group tour and international sales manager and in 2012 he was named director of sales for the bureau.

He has worked with more than 200 group tour planners and brought more than 20,000 room nights to the Quad-Cities through group tours. His sales efforts had an economic impact of almost $3 million on the region.
