Deb and Larry Toppert of East Moline have been chosen as the 2012 East Moline Citizens of the Year.

The Topperts work tirelessly to support many parades and events in East Moline and the surrounding area by contributing time, money, equipment and in kind services for free. They also work with neighborhood groups, schools and city projects.

Deb has served as president of the Booster Club since 2008, served on the Illinois Quad-City Chamber of Commerce board of directors and Western Illinois University alumni council and Presidential Advisory Committee. She was a recipient of the Geraldine Towner Business Woman of the Year award.

Larry has been an OSHA authorized trainer, taught at Scott Community College and is a member of the East Moline/Silvis Rotary Club. He was the recipient of both the Inventor of the Year by the Illinois SBA and the Governor’s Pollution Prevention Award.
