The Illinois Department on Aging has honored Lindsey Colgan of Kewanee, Ill., for her contributions in assisting older adults.

Colgan, who is employed by the Henry and Stark County Health Department as a homecare assistant, was given the D. Jeanne Tippett Memorial Foundation Award and a $500 scholarship.

She is pursuing a degree and license as a physical therapist assistant from Black Hawk College.

As a trained and certified homecare assistant, Colgan visits area residents in their homes and helps them with such activities as light housekeeping, cooking, laundry, errands and assistance with personal care.
