Cassandra Spivey, daughter of Jerry and Cherlye Spivey, Sherrard, Ill., was chosen Miss Rodeo Illinois 2013 Lady-in-Waiting. Her reign as Miss Rodeo Illinois will begin Jan. 1.

Spivey is a graduate of AlWood High School and attends Black Hawk College, where she is a business management major. She is a member of the United Barrel Horse Association, Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association, Loud Thunder Saddle Club and New Windsor Mounted Drill Team. She enjoys trail riding, running quarter-mile horse races, 4-H, FFA, roping and riding horses with friends.

She will travel throughout the United States to promote professional rodeo and the state of Illinois as she prepares to compete in the Miss Rodeo America pageant during December 2013 in Las Vegas.
