Max Gogel of Troop 199 in Bettendorf has achieved the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout.
Gogel has earned 36 merit badges during his 12-year Scouting career. He has held such leadership positions as patrol leader, historian, quartermaster, scribe and librarian.
Gogel’s accomplishment in serving his community was to create a circular base for a statue of Jesus. The statue sits beneath a “giving tree” at Our Lady of Lourdes in Bettendorf. His team also provided some additional landscape work around the tree area.
Gogel is the son of Jerry and Mary Gogel of Bettendorf, and is a senior at Davenport Assumption High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, has earned the Quad-Cities Salute to Academics and Achievements, and is a member of the All-State golf team.
