Bill Boom, Davenport alderman, has received a planning advocate award from the Iowa Chapter of the American Planning Association.

For the past 30 years, Boom has been a tireless neighborhood leader, preservation advocate, planning and zoning commissioner and member of the city council.

He has supported new investment in central city neighborhoods and downtown Davenport. His Community Partnership Program has increased pride in neighborhoods, private investment and growth in the tax base.

Boom also has worked to clean up junkyards in the 3rd Ward, streamlined the historic preservation review process and established design guidelines in areas of central Davenport.
