Shots were fired late Tuesday at a home located at 5624 N. Division St., Davenport, and two people were injured, but both were believed to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, almost a dozen emergency vehicles converged on the residence, which is part of a row of duplexes across the street from Wood Intermediate School. Police were still sorting out the sequence of events at the scene, according to Davenport Police Sgt. Kevin Marxen, but authorities focused their search on the backyard of the residence. The back patio door had been shattered.
One man was shot in the leg and another suffered head injuries, which appeared to be from flying glass, authorities said.
Dave Atkins, who lives three doors down from the scene, came outdoors after hearing the emergency sirens and said he saw one victim being taken away by ambulance. Officials from the Davenport Police Department, Davenport Fire Department and the Medic EMS ambulance service all responded to the call.
