The Midwest Writing Center will offer two four-week online creative writing classes.

Workshops include facilitated formats with one hour of live discussion each week, with the day and time determined by the participants early in the class.

Online Creative Writing Basics I will take place from Feb. 4 to March 1 for novice to intermediate writers of any genre who want to fortify fundamental foundations for their creative writing practices. Elements of voice and style, precision, technique, observation and research will be explored in the workshop facilitated by Julia Coleman, a freelance writer from Florida. Additional four-week sessions will be offered April 29 through May 26 and Sept. 30 through Oct. 25.

Basics II further explores the conventions of voice and style as a journey of discovery, unique to each workshop participant. The sessions are led by author Jodie Toohey, owner of Wordsy Woman Word Sales and Service writing and editing company. Sessions are offered March 25 through April 21, June 3 through June 30 and Nov. 4-29.

Cost for each workshop is $65 for MWC members and $75 for nonmembers. For information or registration, go to, call 563-324-1410, or email
