I’m writing in hope that someone may stand up and pay attention to the noticeable lack of care when it comes to the school grounds. We have lived by Davenport's Sudlow Intermediate and Washington Elementary schools for many years and it seems every year, the care is less than desirable.

The mowing is put off until the very last task, and at that point, the grass needs to be bailed, not cut, and lays in clumps all over the lawn.

I attempted to speak with a groundskeeper who bails the grass and asked him to put a bag on his mower so he can pick up the papers and put them in a bag, rather than run over them and cut them to shreds.

When I was growing up, this is how things were done. There is a lack of respect for our schools that someone cannot take a few extra minutes to care about what others that enter our area, and may hope to live here, may see.

When I approached this person, he said I was welcome to pick it up myself. I have spent many hours cleaning up trash at the school on my own. I think the children should also be taught to use the trashcan rather than the ground; that would be helpful.

Staff gets paid to do the job and we as taxpayers pay for this to be done appropriately.

There is no reason why it can’t be done correctly to begin with. I'm a really disgusted taxpayer.
