I call on golfers in the Quad-Cities to help save a part of history. From 1897 until a few years ago, Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club was a private club operated on the island. Then the Army's MWR division took over the course and it is now the Arsenal Island Golf Course and is open to the public. It is an excellent facility with competitive fees and tee times are available with no problem.
There is a possibility that the course may be closed due to lack of use. That would be a tragic event for the Quad-Cities area. Golfers who are upstanding citizens can get an annual pass, at no cost, to enter the Arsenal to play golf. Take a few minutes to enter the Moline gate and get a pass and you will enjoy playing a well-maintained golf course and help save an important piece of history. You will not be disappointed.
