Congress held a hearing on the increasing prices of prescription drugs this week, and it’s about time. It feels like every time I need medicine, it’s more expensive than the last time. Then I saw drug company Gilead Sciences Inc. the announce it made more money last year than it was expecting. Too bad wages aren’t going up as quickly as the price of those prescription drugs.
The next president of the United States needs to address this problem, because it affects us all. People don’t realize that drug costs affect more than just the patients using the medication. When Medicaid and Medicare have to pay more for prescription drugs, every taxpayer is on the hook.
