Out for a walk recently, I found myself behind an individual wearing a hoodie that on the back displayed the American flag accompanied by the words, “Stomp on my flag, and I’ll stomp your a**.”

Personally, I don’t approve of flag desecration, and it’s usually an ineffective political statement since that type of in-your-face approach seldom sways anyone to your way of thinking. It is, however, protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The wearer of the aforementioned hoodie has every right to “feel” offended, but I find it troubling that this patriot seems to be willing to inflict violence upon a fellow American exercising his or her constitutional rights.

That’s not only offensive, it’s un-American.
