At Monday's U.S. Senate hearing with former acting Attorney General Sally Yates and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, the Republicans were more interested in protecting President Trump than anything else.

This is what's so sad (and dangerous) about how partisan we've become. These men would rather protect a Republican first and then, somewhere down the line, our country.

U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, was right there with them. His question to Clapper was about Trump’s created smokescreen of unmasking information. Fortunately, Clapper clubbed Grassley by basically saying he didn't give a rat's behind about unmasking in relation to what they were really there for, the saving of our democracy.

At age 83, instead of riding off into the sunset like a hero, Grassley is slogging through the mud like a zero.
