Please stop misleading the public by printing articles that state Planned Parenthood provides prenatal “services.”

Critics of defunding Planned Parenthood are now substituting services for care since their prenatal care deception was exposed by the recent Live Action undercover phone calls to 97 Planned Parenthood facilities. Ninety-two reported they do not provide prenatal care, despite it being listed on their websites as a provided service. Technically, they do provide prenatal “services” if you count pregnancy testing and abortion, but the general public will equate services to care. Semantics again. Since their exposure, Planned Parenthood has been busy scrubbing the term prenatal care from its websites.

Planned Parenthood has more than 650 centers in the U.S., According to Snopes, there are 13 clinics in just California that advertise prenatal services, and six of the 10 centers checked in New York did. I spot-checked two of these and found that they do not provide prenatal care, they “provide you with a list of resources to help you obtain prenatal care.” This is not providing prenatal care.

Snopes defends Planned Parenthood, explaining that it never said that all facilities provide prenatal care. However, continuing this deception, despite the small number of facilities that do provide it, is a scare tactic Planned Parenthood uses to convince the public of how indispensable it is to a community.

Pregnant women in Iowa and Illinois would lose nothing if Planned Parenthood is defunded.
