The president has just signed his latest executive order and my head is spinning. At Thursday's White House signing ceremony he declared an end to the practice of using the "power of the state as a weapon against people of faith, bullying and even punishing Americans for following their religious beliefs."

Say what? Punishing Americans for following their religious beliefs? Does he mean "expressing their political beliefs?" Once again I'm totally perplexed by this rudderless man.

And what of the row of religious leaders standing behind the gloating monarch-wannabe? Why were they grinning from ear to ear? Do they have any idea what an infusion of politics might mean for their congregations?

Mr. Trump clearly did not have religious faith in mind when he signed his name to this document. I can appreciate that. But those religious leaders duped into thinking he cares about religious (not political) freedoms are in for a surprise when they transform their pulpits into stumps.
