The past four years or so, the city of Rock Island has had its share of disappointments with what appears to be a lack of marketing skills, business skills, and "gambling" with our tax dollars. That's the bad news, as they say, but we do have a fourth-generation Rock Island resident by the name of Mike Thoms who is running for mayor.
Mike is our "Mr. Business" candidate. I hope you will consider voting for Mike Thoms, who has common sense and puts a true business person back into City Hall so Rock Island can start growing again.
Speaking of business persons, we have six who either own or manage a business in Rock Island, who are all fiscal conservative Republican candidates for the South Rock Island. Township. These candidates are a dream team with business knowledge, skills, and common sense. They know budgets, payroll, taxes, and serving in the interests of the township residents. I ask your support and vote for: Dr. Rod Simmer (Supervisor), Nikki Finnie (Assessor), and for Trustee candidates: Dr. Kim Shuda, T.J. Krone, Chris Elsberg, and Gary Snyder. These are friends that I have known and respected for many years. They are a qualified team beyond compare for our South Rock Island Township.
Editor's note: Alongi is a trustee on South Rock Island board.
