People continually cut God out of more things, giving Satan opportunities to have his way.

Don’t say, “Where was God when all of this was going on at Sandy Hook, and why didn’t he do something to stop it?” God gave all of us a free will. He sent His angels to be with those children, while tears ran down His holy face, and then He welcomed each of them home.

Do you think what I heard being discussed on Fox News could be true? Mike Huckabee, a candidate in the 2008 Republican presidential primary, said we have these killings in our schools because we have removed God from our schools! Mr. Huckabbe said “Maybe we ought to let God in on the front end, and we wouldn’t have to call Him up when it’s all said and done at the back end”. Also, American Family Association director Brian Fischer said that God could have protected the children, but didn’t because “God is not going to go where he is not wanted”….so I guess God didn’t save the kids because there’s no prayer in school? Then I read that “Gun Owners of America” head Larry Pratt said “Gun control supporters have the blood of little children on their hands”! Is that true? Could it be true that God could have prevented this but chose not to because of the separation of church and state…that Jesus killed the little kids to send a clear message that he is upset? Could Huckabee and Fischer be RIGHT that these tragic deaths are retribution for something we did to anger God? So then, if these children were in a Catholic school, nothing bad would ever happen them? God loves us and teaches us to worship peace and kindness, but does He sometimes practice tough love on innocent children if we get out of line? I suppose sometimes God could kill for vengeance. Is Mr. Huckabee and Mr. Fischer RIGHT that God won’t protect innocent little kids in a mass shooting unless public schools allow prayer? If so, we better again get the Ten Commandments posted back on the walls of every school in the United States!

Thousands of years of religion summed up: "My cloud man is better than your cloud man. I will now murder you to prove it."

I think what you are trying to claim is about as offence as it can get. Angels really? This so called god of your is continually used as an excuse, a whipping boy for some, and in all cases never at fault. Those like you can take a real tragedy and twist things to the point it`s never the fault of any religion because after all if all these murdered children had just prayed in school, a little harder, a little longer, satan would have never handed this mis-fit murderer a gun.

Religion is dying in America as it deserves, because young people see over the top rants like you penned and actually laugh at the ignorance. If only we had prayed harder, longer, in our schools and public buildings those like you rant. If only we had said merry christmas and not happy holidays, god would have let these children live.

These children are dead never to be held and loved again. You want to justify that with gibberish about tears and angels. Amazing. How about an eye for an eye? The he!! with excuses and mythical rants.

On the surface this is just a version of the simplistic and repetitive "evil society" sermon that self righteous fundamentalists pull out so they won't have to admit that we Christians really don't know why God allows these things to happen.

But if you think a little deeper the message becomes much more sinister, describing a petty, vindictive God who deliberately allows the slaughter of 5 year olds because He is ticked off about the removal of forced prayer in public schools or the absence of Christmas trees in the public square. A pretty despicable description of God.

Plus, if you believe this you also have to believe the corollary - that no innocent children in the United States were ever killed, abused, starved, abandoned, struck with cancer or polio - God always protected them all - in the good old days when Christian prayers were required.

"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able?
Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing?
Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God?”

I guess Epicurus left out the possibility that god would not go where he was "cut out of." What ridiculous logic. If school shootings are a result of secularism, why doesn't Europe or Japan experience such tragedies? Afterall they are far more godless.

Of all the fingerpointing over the Sandy Hook massacre, the "blame it on the atheists" has to be the silliest.

Nice letter, expressing the opinion of Lucy. Sweet. Pointless, but sweet. Angels, and tears on god's face, how sweet. Diabetes sweet, in fact.

God has a face? And it cries tears? What color are his eyes? He's a guy, right? Has all the equipment of a guy? Look up the word anthropomorphic.

At least she didn't explicitly, as others have, that God deliberately lifted his "veil of protection" from those kindergartners because we stopped forcing kids to pray publicly in school.

Coffee cup we told God to leave our schools and decades ago and continue to remove Him from our society. Instead of being part of the problem why don't you help us put God BACK in our schools and maybe, just maybe He will hear our prayers and heal our land.

A fool looks at this world and says there is no God. You just became the poster child for fools.

You have a reading comprehension problem, don't you?

I am a believer, too, but I dont need to be praying in school (nor do kids) for God to hear my prayers (or theirs).

Your god is your god and none of my business. It does not belong in public education or in government. It belongs in church and in YOUR home if you want it, but not in front of the public. It's no one's business. Keep it to yourself.

Mommakelly, just like your opinion we have to put up with and tolerate, so shall we put our God and the God of the Hebrews in front of the public, in our schools, and in our government.

Keep your God out of my government!

Keep your god out of my bedroom (unless I call for it, which means that, well, religion isn't really my top priority at that time) and out of my uterus too.

Which of the 30,000 sects of Christianity would you propose be our state religion? Don't you think you would get pushback from the other 29,999?

The reason teaching bible was found to be unconstitutional back in the 1800s was because Catholics objected to the use of the King James version. Secularism not only works to protect atheists from theists, but everyone from everyone else.

100% agreement. What none of these evangelicals will tell us- What faith will you accept out of over 2000 various beliefs to be mentioned, prayed too,or used as the best religion?

Keep your religion where our founding fathers placed in -your church, your home, and OUT of my public schools and government funded lands, buildings, and courts.

Amen mommakelly, amen. But I would encourage everyone to find someway to allow God (or whatever you want to call Him/Her) into their hearts and lives. Whether that is finding peace in silent prayers in the privacy of your home or sharing in communal prayers in the company of fellow believers for more peace and understanding in our communities, we all are in need of something.

The writer made a statement of faith. No real message here.

Senor Citizen, a statement of faith IS the real message.

senor citizen

No, a statement of faith is an opinion, and nothing more. We all have our own, kinda like having an imaginary friend for the for those with a great imagination or a pastor, real, or TV types who fill the ignorant folks head with garbage.

Any God that would kill twenty children because he is not getting the attention he thinks he deserves is a God not worthy of worship. Please keep that God out of our society.
