DES MOINES — Iowa Department of Education officials announced Friday a series of educator forums to discuss the newly released Teacher Leadership and Compensation Task Force recommendations.

Those recommendations include increasing starting the minimum starting pay for teachers to $35,000, offering stipends for teachers who teach in high-poverty schools and/or hard-to-fill subjects and creating new career paths for teachers.

Department of Education Director Jason Glass estimates adopting the recommendations would cost the state $150 million.

Manchester: Oct. 22, 4-5 p.m., in the auditorium at West Delaware High School, 605 New St., Manchester.

Des Moines: Oct. 23, 4:15-5:15 p.m., in the auditorium at Central Campus, 1800 Grand Ave., Des Moines.

Sioux City: Nov. 1, 4:30-5:30 p.m., in the auditorium at North High School, 4200 Cheyenne Blvd., Sioux City.

Clear Lake: Nov. 28, 4-5 p.m., in the E.B. Stillman Auditorium at Clear Lake Middle School, 1601 3rd Ave. N., Clear Lake.

Oskaloosa: Nov. 29, 4:30-5:30 p.m., in the George Dailey Community Auditorium, 1800 N. 3rd St., Oskaloosa.

Atlantic: Dec. 5, 4:30-5:30 p.m., in the auditorium at Atlantic High School, 1201 E. 14th St., Atlantic.

Bettendorf: Dec. 6, 5-6 p.m., Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency, 729 21st St., Bettendorf.
