Illinois lawmakers sniff out impeachment clues right under their noses

Patrick Fitzgerald seems to have even more power than we realized. Not only can the federal prosecutor criminally charge a sitting governor, he can make an entire legislative chamber finally acknowledge the mess that’s festered right under its nose for six years.

Alcoa has proven its Q-C commitment

Alcoa’s news whipped through our Quad-Cities harsher than a blast of January wind:  a 13 percent worldwide workforce reduction. As usual, the local plant leaders didn’t hedge. Davenport Works representative John Riches answered our reporter’s questions on the record and appeared before cameras for the TV bunch.  “The reduction in force announced by Alcoa today will have an impact on Davenport Works,” Riches told Times business reporter Jennifer DeWitt.

Courant writer Teresa Pelham reported the teenage rockers don’t have a formal pact, “just an understanding that there will be no pressure, at least from each other, to drink or try drugs.”
