Although I am a resident of Bettendorf, I have volunteered to be Richard Clewell's campaign treasurer for a number of reasons.
What happens in Davenport's 6th Ward can have a direct effect on Bettendorf. Mr. Clewell understands the need for continuing economic development of the 53rd Street and Elmore Avenue corridor, but also realizes that traffic concerns and the concerns of the surrounding residential areas must be addressed.
Through his years on the Davenport School Board, Mr. Clewell has demonstrated the ability to understand both sides of an issue and works to come up with the best solution for all involved.
Gov. Terry Branstad, R-Iowa, recognized this ability and in 2013, appointed Mr. Clewell to the Iowa State Early Childhood Board. Mr. Clewell continues to serve as the vice chair of this board. Mr. Clewell has also been an integral part of managing the Davenport Community School District’s $200 million dollar budget ensuring that the needs of all students are met.
Finally, Mr. Clewell has lived and volunteered in the 6th Ward since 1987, including being a youth soccer coach, and McKinley Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) member.
Vote for Richard Clewell for long-term representation for the 6th Ward.
