I would like to thank all those involved in the Scott County Holiday Meals Program. All together we purchased and paid for 280 meals for the elderly on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
When the announcement had been made that funding was being cut for the Scott County meal delivery program, I knew the Quad-Cities would unite to continue delivering meals to the elderly. I was right.
Financial donations were sent by friends, businesses and many individuals from across the Quad-Cities. We raised enough to purchase all of the meals.
Ninety-three volunteer drivers came out to deliver meals for the three holidays. New Year’s Day was a bit of a challenge with the weather, but we did it.
Sodexo Food Service at St. Ambrose University went out of their way donating time and securing donations from their vendors to make the meals affordable.
Again, thank you to all those who helped – a healthy and happy New Year to everyone.
