From 1990 to 2005, I served as a director on the West Delaware School Board. Maxine McEnany was the district's business manager, secretary and treasurer until 2002, when she became the director of finance at Bettendorf Community School District.
During the beginning years of her employment at West Delaware, the board became aware of a discrepancy in her salary compared to that of similar positions in other districts. When the board attempted to raise her wages, we were met with resistance from the person who had set her wages. He left the district when the board corrected the inequity in salary. Maxine continued to serve in her position for another 10 years. This community experienced a great loss upon her leaving.
Maxine McEnany was a wonderful asset to our district. Her intelligent, capable handling of the district's finances was exceeded only by her honest, trustworthy commitment to the community as a whole.
I am confident that she would be an excellent school board director for Bettendorf and would serve wholeheartedly in that position, considering all facets of the district - students, parents and staff.
