In response to the mess coming from Muscatine City Hall, I have a couple of comments. First, if the Muscatine City Council is seriously considering appealing the court decision in favor of the mayor, they should wait until January. There will be one or more new faces on the City Council and there may be a different view.
Second, if the city administrator is going to sue the city, he should be forced to take a leave of absence. I think it would be a conflict of interest for him to make decisions for the city with a lawsuit pending.
The statement in the newspaper said he was including the city because the city carried the insurance. He is probably counting on the insurance carrier making a settlement to avoid litigation.
