Neil Sawyer, owner of Sawyer Beef and a fifth-generation farmer in Scott County, will host a Practical Farmers of Iowa field day from 1-4 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Sawyer Beef, 1103 Lost Grove Road, Princeton.

Sawyer will share his experiences in rotational grazing and transitioning to grass-fed production. Topics covered will include discussions of intensive rotational grazing; rotation lengths and planning; how to make good beef by grazing; local grass-fed beef marketing; and farmers markets and retail sales.

The event, “Marketing and Managing Grass and Grain-fed Beef,” is free to attend, but registration is requested. To register, contact Lauren Zastrow at lauren@practicalfarmers.org or call 515-232-5661 by Monday.
