Clinton 7, Lansing 5

SPOT START: Derrick Saito made an unscheduled start for Clinton on Wednesday. He took the mound in place of scheduled starter Brett Lorin, a fifth-round pick of Seattle in 2008 who was traded earlier in the day to Pittsburgh.

TAKING THE FIFTH: Clinton strung four singles together and took advantage of a fielding error by Lansing in the fifth to score four times and open a 4-1 lead, but needed insurance provided by catcher Blake Ochoa's leadoff homer during a seventh inning that saw the LumberKings build a 6-1 edge following a run-scoring single by Daniel Carroll.

LUGNUTS LATE: Clinton closer Cheyne Hann was forced into the game in the ninth after back-to-back two-run singles with two outs by Brian Van Kirk and Johermyn had cut the LumberKings' lead to two runs. Hann struck out the only batter he faced to earn his sixth save.
