Peoria 12, Clinton 3: The Chiefs fell behind early but ripped off 20 hits to earn a Midwest League win at Ashford University Field on Tuesday night to end the four-game series.
Nick Zammarelli homered in a three-run first inning to put the LumberKings up 3-1 early. But the Chiefs battled back behind huge days from catcher Brian O’Keefe and third baseman Juan Yepez. O’Keefe homered twice and drove in three runs, while Yepez was 4-for-6 at the plate with five RBIs as Peoria won three of four in the series.
Nick Wells took the loss for Clinton, allowing 11 hits and six runs in five innings.
