Clinton kept its Midwest League postseason hopes alive Sunday, using a run-scoring single by Gareth Morgan in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the LumberKings a 1-0 win over Wisconsin at Ashford University Field.
Morgan's two-out base hit scored Jhombeyker Morales, who singled to open the inning and advanced on a Yojhan Quevedo single and a Joe Rizzo flyout before ending the pitcher's duel.
Ljay Newsome scattered three hits over seven innings and combined with Jeffeson Medina to strikeout seven Timber Rattlers in the four-hit shutout.
The win was the 12th in 15 games for Clinton, which trails Peoria by 2.5 games for the Western Division second-half wildcard spot with seven games to play in the regular season.
The LumberKings will conclude their series with Wisconsin at 6:30 p.m. tonight and then will have a day off before starting a series against Kane County on Wednesday.
