A Hailey Cook jumper with just less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter gave St. Ambrose a double-digit lead that stuck Friday in a 73-59 women's basketball win over Emmaus Bible.

The Queen Bees shot 59.3 percent in the opening half, building a 20-7 lead after one quarter and maintaining a 40-28 halftime advantage in their home opener at Lee Lohman Arena.

A three-point play by Charlotte Flynn and a pair of free throws by Madi Epperson extended the St. Ambrose lead to 45-28 with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter, and Emmaus (0-2) came no closer the rest of the game.
