Season ticket sales for Iowa men's basketball already have exceeded last year’s totals and are threatening to reach a 10-year high, according to university officials.

The athletic ticket office has processed orders for more than 8,700 season ticket orders, topping the 2012-13 total by more than 1,000. If the total goes over 10,000 it would be the first time since the 2002-03 season. Officials said all three categories of season tickets — general public, faculty and staff and students — are up year-over-year.

“We are still accepting season ticket requests from the general public and our faculty and staff,’’ said Pam Finke, the university’s director of athletic ticket operations. “We are also accepting season ticket orders from UI students and we think it’s possible that sales of season tickets to UI students could approach 3,000.’’

The ticket office will begin accepting orders for single-game tickets to home games from members of the National I-Club and other season ticket holders next week before opening single-game sales to the general public on Oct. 16.
