STORYLINES

• Iowa defeated William Jewell College 105-81 and Belmont Abbey 96-64 in two exhibition games. Tyler Cook scored 40 points in the two games with freshman Luka Garza adding 35 points along with grabbing 21 rebounds. The Hawkeyes will be without junior co-captain Nicholas Baer, who is sidelined for three to four weeks with a broken finger.

• Chicago State was 6-26 last season and 52-171 in seven years under head coach Tracy Dildy. The Cougars are led by junior Fred Sims Jr., a second team All-WAC selection a year ago and the team’s leading scorer each of the past two seasons. They shot just 24.1 percent from the field and were outrebounded 56-28 in a 77-42 exhibition loss to Valparaiso last week.

• Iowa and Chicago State have met four times previously with the Hawkeyes winning each time. The most recent meeting was a 96-53 Iowa win in 2011, in Dildy’s second season as head coach.
