• Iowa had its worst regular season record since 2011, but it managed to snap a six-game losing streak Sunday with a 77-70 victory over Northwestern. Jordan Bohannon had 25 points and seven 3-point field goals in the game and has now become the first NCAA Division I player in 25 years to collect 80 3-point field goals and 150 assists in each of his first two college seasons.

• Illinois got 19 points off the bench from Michael Finke in finishing the regular season with a 75-62 win over Rutgers on Sunday. The Illini, who force an average of 17 turnovers per game, suffered a 104-97 loss to Iowa on Jan. 11, squandering a 20-point first-half lead.

• This is the third time in seven years that the Hawkeyes and Illini have met in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. Iowa won 64-61 in 2012, then lost to Illinois 68-66 in 2016. Iowa has not won a game in the tournament since 2013 and is 2-7 under Fran McCaffery in Big Ten tournament play.
