Wigginton leads Iowa State past Northern Illinois 94-80

STORYLINES

• Iowa has lost five of its past six games, including a 77-64 loss at Indiana on Monday night. The Hawkeyes were victimized by a 14-0 scoring run in the first half and an 18-0 run in the second half as they shot just 38.5 percent from the field and matched their season high with 18 turnovers. Brady Ellingson led them with 16 points.

• Iowa State shot 61.1 percent from the field in the second half to bounce back from a two-point halftime deficit and defeat Northern Illinois 94-80 for its fifth straight win Monday. Freshman Lindell Wigginton tossed in 28 points and Donovan Jackson netted 24. Nick Weiler-Babb collected 12 points and 11 assists and is now averaging 7.4 assists per game, 10th best in the country. He also is the Cyclones’ leading rebounder at 7.1 per game.

• Iowa defeated Iowa State 78-64 last season in Iowa City but has lost six of the past eight meetings between the two schools. The Hawkeyes have not won in Ames since a 54-53 victory in the 2003 NIT.
