STORYLINES

• Iowa defeated NCAA Division II Regis University in a preseason exhibition game last Friday. Peter Jok led the Hawkeyes with 28 points with freshman Tyler Cook adding 15.

• Kennesaw State is in its second season under Al Skinner, who was the national coach of the year as the coach at Boston College in 2001 and who also served as the head coach at Rhode Island. The Owls return three starters and eight lettermen from an 11-20 team. They defeated Georgia Southwestern 60-58 in an exhibition game despite going 0-for-11 from 3-point range.

• Iowa has won 37 of its last 38 non-conference home games with the only loss coming against Iowa State in the 2014-15 season. The Hawkeyes have not lost a season opener since a loss to South Dakota State in Fran McCaffery’s debut game in 2010.
