STORYLINES

• Iowa returns everyone from last season’s team except Big Ten scoring leader Peter Jok and Dale Jones, who played just 15 minutes last season. Sophomores Tyler Cook and Jordan Bohannon were named to the Big Ten’s all-freshman team last season, and junior Nicholas Baer was named the Big Ten’s Sixth Man of the Year.

• William Jewell is an NCAA Division II school in Liberty, Missouri. The Cardinals are in their 39th year of being coached by Larry Holley, who has the distinction of coaching his home games on a court named for him. His team returns two starters, including guard Patrick Whelan, who shot 44.5 percent from 3-point range while averaging 19.7 points per game last season.

• This is the first of two exhibition games the Hawkeyes will play. They will host Belmont Abbey, a Division II school in Charlotte, North Carolina, next Thursday before opening the regular season on Nov. 10 against Chicago State.
