Cold shooting left the St. Ambrose men's basketball team in no position for a comeback Monday in a 94-66 nonconference loss to Clarke at Lee Lohman Arena.
The Fighting Bees mustered just one field goal over the final seven minutes of the opening half as the Pride broke a 25-25 tie by ending the half on a 17-6 run.
A jumper by Lee Hardrick to open the second half pulled St. Ambrose within 42-33 but five straight points gave Clarke a double-digit advantage which the Bees, shooting just 37.1 percent for the game, couldn't dent.
Jake Meeske and Hardrick led St. Ambrose (9-10) with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Jared Walker led a group of four Clarke players in double figures with a 17-point game.
Former Rock Island prep Breon Hawthorne came off the bench to score seven for the Pride (9-9).
