Returning four starters from a team which finished as the NCAA Division III runner-up last season, the Augustana men’s basketball team will challenge itself with a regular-season game against Illinois.
Coach Grey Giovanine’s team will visit the State Farm Center on Wednesday, Nov. 22, the fourth game of the season for team which finished 24-9 a year ago, earned a share of its eighth College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship in the past 15 years and reached the Division III title game for the second time in three years.
The game will be the Vikings’ first against a Division I opponent since winning an exhibition game at Bradley in 2014 and its first regular-season game against a Division I foe since playing at Gonzaga in 2009.
The starting time for the game has not been determined.
Augustana will open its season Nov. 15 with a game against Heidelberg that will be played at a neutral site in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The Vikings’ home opener is two days later when Calvin visits the Carver Center.
