Jim Brownlee, who spent 30 years as the head baseball coach at Evansville and Illinois State, was named Friday as the pitching coach at Iowa.
Brownlee is the father of former Hawkeye assistant Ryan Brownlee, who left the program in September to become the head coach at Western Illinois. He has a career record of 854-817-5, but has not coached at the collegiate level since completing seven seasons at Illinois State in 2009.

“We believe Jim is the perfect hire with the timing of things. With him following our program closely over the past nine years, he knows our players and has seen us play a lot of games,’’ Iowa coach Jack Dahm said.
