COLUMBUS, Ga. — As a follow-up to finishing 1-2 in 1-meter diving competition on Thursday, St. Ambrose divers Andrea Adam and Taylor Madison repeated that feat in the 3-meter event Friday at the NAIA National Championships.
The two freshmen easily outdistanced competition to give the Fighting Bees' first-year program a sweep of the top-two positions in both diving events.
Adam, a former Iowa City Regina prep, followed up a 239.95 score in preliminary competition earlier in the day with a 225.85 score in Friday's finals session.
A Rock Island graduate, Madison finished as the runner-up in the event with a score of 184.75.
St. Ambrose sits in 14th place in the women's team race heading into the final day of competition at the Columbus Aquatic Center.
The Bees' men's team, with seven events currently left on its schedule, is in 13th place after picking up points in the 400-yard individual medley and the 200 medley relay on Friday.
Freshman Nathan Kuszynski took ninth place in the 400 IM, winning the B final in a time of 4 minutes, 7.21 seconds, after entering competition seeded 22nd in the event.
St. Ambrose also picked up points with a 13th-place finish in the 200 medley relay, where David Hill, Mitchell Berendes, Jason Schuler and Jonathan Whittle posted a time of 1:38.94 to finish one spot ahead of where they were seeded.
