With the high and swift waters, fishermen are going to West Lake, Lake Belva Deer, Lake George and farm ponds, reported Nick's Rod and Reel in Davenport. The bluegill are biting on wax worms and red worms in these places, and crappies, mostly on minnows, and bass, mostly on jigs and twister tails or top-water lures, have been caught.

The river catfish are biting on stink baits, and the backwater bass are taking top-water lures in the weeds and lily pads, R&R Sports in Clinton, Iowa, reported.

The walleye are hitting crank baits either trolled or cast on the weed edges at Lake Storey, reported Al's Sporting Goods in Galesburg, Ill. The bluegill in the lake are in 3 to 5 foot of water and taking wax worms and small pieces of regular worms. The crappies are in 8 to 12 foot of water and biting on a jig and minnow. The bass bite best early or late in the day, using crank baits or plastic worms. The catfish at Snake Den Hollow are biting on dew worms, chicken livers and dip baits.

The river catfish are hitting stink baits, and the carp are biting on dew worms and corn at the Hampton Dam, Booze and Bait Mini Mart in East Moline reported. Some bass, bluegill and crappies have been caught in the local farm ponds.

The small-mouth bass are biting in the Hennepin Canal in the Geneseo, Ill., area, reported Carbon Cliff (Ill.) Bait and Tackle Shop. Lake George has been good for crappies, and some catfish and perch are being caught in the rivers.

The catfish are taking stink baits in West Lake, Credit Island Bait Shop in Davenport reported. The Sylvan Slough area has been good for white bass and small-mouth bass on a jig and minnow. A fisherman caught a 5-pound, 3-ounce small-mouth bass.

The walleye, bluegill and crappies are biting in the Hennepin Canal in the Milan area, reported Croegaert's Great Outdoors in Rock Island. Walleye have been caught on minnows along the dam at Lake George.

The crappies are hitting minnows at Sunset Marina, along with some bass, EZ Livin' Sports Center in Milan, Ill., reported. Large-mouth bass have been caught in the rivers on plastic worms, some in the 2- to 3-pound range. The bluegill and sunfish have been biting on wax worms and red worms in the Hennepin Canal. A fisherman caught caught a piranha in the canal.

The river catfish are taking night crawlers and stink baits, reported Gander Mountain in Davenport. The West Lake catfish are biting on night crawlers.

The crappies are hitting jigs and minnows at West Lake, K&K True Value Hardware in Bettendorf reported. The bluegill and bass are biting in the farm ponds.

Catfish are eating dew worms at Lake George, and walleye have been caught, Lake George Concession and Boat Rental reported.
