Penn State running back Akeel Lynch is staying put.
Lynch, who contacted Iowa officials about a possible transfer to the Hawkeyes program which recruited him a year ago as a high school athlete, announced via Twitter on Friday night that he will remain a Nittany Lion.
“I will be wearing #22 in (a) Blue & White jersey come Sept. 1,” Lynch wrote, adding “sorry for the wait.”
The incoming freshman was a three-star recruit according to Rivals.com, which ranked him as the 29th-best running back in the class of 2012.
Penn State recently lost junior running back Silas Redd, who left for Southern California.
