Former Iowa running back Marcus Coker’s season has come to an early end at Stony Brook because of an abdominal injury.

Coker, who was second in the Big Ten in rushing as a Hawkeye sophomore in 2011, attempted to play through the injury during the Seawolves’ first two games. He carried 57 times for 193 yards in those games but the decision was made prior to a conference game Saturday at Villanova to shut him down for the rest of the season.

Because of the timing, Coker is considered eligible for a medical redshirt this season and would be able to take the field for Stony Brook as a fifth-year senior in 2014.
