Former Davenport Central standout Julian Vandervelde is back on the Philadelphia Eagles’ 53-man roster.

The Eagles signed the former Iowa Hawkeye off their practice squad Wednesday after placing starting right tackle Todd Herremans on injured resevere.

“I always thought I’d be back in Philadelphia,” Vandervelde told the Philadelphia Daily News. “The situation in which I find myself back on (the 53-man) is tragic, with four of our starters from last year down...All I can do is make the most of the opportunity.”

The offensive lineman was the Eagles’ fifth-round pick in 2011 NFL Draft.
