The thoughts

Coach Kirk Ferentz on signing four players who played for high school programs within 25 miles of Iowa City:

“It wasn’t necessarily by design, but it’s nice. We want to get the best guys in the state. That’s always by design. Sometimes, they’re going to be close. Sometimes, they may be in the far west. We have a lot of guys from the northwest corner of our state, too. That’s just one of the things that happened this year.’’
